I'm assuming it's new because I didn't find any description as used. I believe this is a great deal for an HDD.

So far my 2TB Seagates have been fine. Grabbed this one when the codes went live. Shipping was a little wonky during checkout. But clicking on "estimate shipping" fixed it to make it free.

I was thinking that too as the SATA connection is the same as my NVR system, however, I believe it might get too hot within the NVR box (7,200 rpm). If someone with more experience can chime in if they recommend 5,400 rpm or 7,200 rpm HD, that would be great. Thanks

The question if you can use it in an NVR is of course yes. How long will it last is where the dice roll begins Desktop grade HDD are not rated for 24/7 365 use. Surveillance drives have better spindles and disk controllers for continuous writing to the drive to reduce failures from recording. If your 5400rpm drives are running hotter than 50 degrees celsius do not upgrade to a 7200rpm drive unless you improve the cooling of the NVR. As with everything its all chance if you just need a drive temporarily go for it, if you are storing vital recordings that you don't want to lose buy a surveillance drive for peace of mind.
