this looks like a fare war to me. cheap and nonstop flights to hawaii!

Virgin America [virginamerica.com], Hawaiian Airlines [hawaiianairlines.com] and United Airlines [united.com] regular economy have nonstop, round trip airfares travelling from San Francisco (SFO) to Kahului Maui (OGG) for $376.

side note: Hawaiian Airlines still serves a complimentary hot meal.

Travel Availability:
Departs SFO: Jan 15-18, 22-25, 29-31; Feb 1, 5-8, 21-22, 26-28
Returns: wide availability Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday thru Feb 15 and then again same days of the week from Feb 27 thru March 14

You may book directly with the airlines or let Priceline [priceline.com], Expedia [expedia.com] or Orbitz [orbitz.com] choose the best flights for you. Bundling hotel with airfare will save money.

Not to be smart - but I would sure hope the flight from SFO to Maui would be non stop. There is nothing but water between the two. Wink

In the past, I've seen some cheap flights that required connections in LAX, SEA (yes, really), or HNL.

I can vouch for this. I had a flight back in 2010 for $185 RT to Oahu from Oakland, but had a short layover in LAX.

Looking at dates in 2017, you can still find round trip out of SFO to Maui for just about $30-40 more. Still solid deal IMO

you'd be surprise, flights tend to want to go to idaho or somewhere before going straight to hawaii. Depends on when and who you fly. While distant always makes sense to fly straight there but money saving is probably the goal.
