Wouldn't the Nest E be a better bet at $170 new? Newer hardware and stuff, with the recent 15% off Cartwheel + 5% Red card discount would knock the Nest E to about $137.28 pre-tax

It's the same internals with the compatibility being more for the regular nest. I'd prefer the regular nest.

Very fair point, however, The Nest E is all plastic and doesn't work with all HVAC systems and doesn't have a color screen. Internals are pretty much the same.

Really based on preference.

Just bought one of these a few months back. The programming takes some getting used to but I like it.

I actually like the look of the Nest E as it's more inconspicuous and blends in well with light walls. And how many times do I really care about the screen of my thermostat? I control mine by schedule, geofencing, and using my voice with something like the Echo or Google Home

Why would you not get this over an E? Color display, better material, more features, right? Want to get a thermostat for my GF for Christmas

These things are awesome. I love that it shuts off when my wife and I both leave the house if we forget to turn it off. My wife loves it has well.
