rated 14 without any comment? hmm

out of 4 hp laptops, all have had some issue with them or were just overall not well designed. this one being a refurb probably means there is also something fundamentally wrong with its design as well. no thanks.

I still use an i5-3320m (almost identical to this CPU) in my lenovo X230. Extremely overkill for most people. The CPU is about as fast as an FX-4300 but in a laptop and has a decent IGP. Think about that for just a second. $230 with an SSD? Great deal.

I think everyone is forgetting that most people use very low end hardware. I can't get my wife to move on from her Toshiba Chromebook 2, which has the Atom N2840 but a really nice screen. For her it does everything.

Met all my criteria for a schoolwork laptop for my kids. Overkill really but it'll hold up well for speeds sake.

When they say manufacturer refurb, are these actually HP refurbs or are they "seller refurbs" ie wiped down with a clorox wipe and resold?

This is a pretty decent CPU! I'm wondering what replacing the LCD panel in these is like, heh.

Had a 640 G3 for work. These are solid laptops comparable to Dell latitudes. $230 is a bit pricey though.

BUYER BEWARE!

I bought a heavily discounted non refurb HP ProBook 430 G3 last December for my wife's sister from B&H Photo thinking since its a business line it should be fine.

After just a few months the trackpad would freeze up and the screen would go black. I sent in for warranty repair and that didn't fix it.

I came over recently just to show them how to stream movies and I was in shock how bad the trackpad was and how the screen would freeze up. I was going insane. I feel so bad that I recommended them this laptop that I will buy them another one. Preferably a new dell since I have yet to have issues with them for budget laptops.

I know its not the same exact model but I would still be weary!

very decent price for a very good specs. yes 4 generations older but hey most of us are not working for nasa mission control. a 4th gen i5 with 8 gigs of ram and 128 gb would be as fast as the lastest 8th gen cpu laptop at atleast 2-3 times the price of this for internet browing, office apps, netflix, youtube and heck some serious software development work. and the pro books are well built to be used in business and enterprise so expect strong hinges spill proof keyboard modular design which makes it easy for upgrades. this also comes with 1 year warranty. god people commenting here are dumb.

I have this notebook. The only thing I don't like about it is the plastic bottom. I've broken some vents by one-handing it and applying pressure at the poorly engineered spot, exactly where my fingers want to be.

HP Presario notebooks are junk. Probooks are solid and should give you a long life, especially if you max out the RAM when prices are at their sweet spot in the manufacturing cycle. Elitebooks are almost always exceptionally solid, long lasting models.

My only hesitation on getting a 2nd for the family is the battery. After market batteries and power adapters usually suck. If this was a brand new OEM battery and the OEM power brick, it would be a no brainer buy in my world.

I've sold hundreds of HP business class notebooks. They're generally very well made. Something is definitely not right with this one. They should have pursued the warranty better. There's still time for HP to make it right.
