Really poor drives, most people are reporting total fail in under a year.

I bought two of this drive from Newegg last black friday (2016) for $75.24 each. I would expect that after one year, prices would be lower. Both have been running smooth with no problems, one in a DIY file server and one in a desktop that is kept one all the time. These are much cooler to the touch than Seagate drives, which I had two 3Tb drives failing right after 2 years of use.

Why is it that every drive that is advertised has some comment about how poor they are and how they instantly fail....i have 2 internal drives in my shitty desktop that have worked for 5 years no problems...two internal drives in my photography desktop that is toally fine...and about 7 external hard drives that are all still fine and working....the onlg drive i have ever had fail is a 4 gb external plug in that i dropped accidently about 4 feet and it failed......

Because they sell hundreds of thousands of these, if not millions, and some will fail and people will complain about it

Historically, to the 3tb drives fail at higher rates than the 2 or 4 tb... Might want to consider a 2 or 4.. a crappy 3tb(crcgate) from 2013 is failing on a friend.. and he will have to replace it soon.. plus rebuild the OS and backup data which isn't already corrupted.. sucks when it's your os drive.. spend a bit more for a 4tb or save some on a 2..

Heat usually kills it fast.

I've had my desktop replacing this drive every 2 years on a row as my home office doesn't run AC during the day when I left for work and sometimes I forgot to turn the desktop off so it kept on through in over 90-100 degree for hours.

This summer I have been careful and made sure the computer is off or keep the AC to keep the temp. down. Also blow the chassis dust more often, this disk has lasted longer.

I remember those floods, but it mainly talks about Seagate and WD being affected...did it kill Samsung drives? Thought they would have rebuilt in the last six years.

You have a drive so old it was only 4gB, but you had it in an external enclosure?

Also, I've had ... 3? drives fail. But, they lasted a while.
