Edit; correction don't see any new brushless versions, seems new M12 versions though ... so prices on those will drop

release date is so close I would wait: http://toolguyd.com/new-milwaukee...17-teaser/
I don't see any new versions of the m18 brushless drills/drivers from that link. Just new m12 versions

Thanks for the link. The Tool Guy always has great reviews, but I didn't see anything about new M18 non-fuel drills and drivers coming out.

that's interesting, but I only see mention of new M12 drills on that page. I think the M18 2017 drill/impact are already released?

now there are 3 in total M18 drill/impacts. The older brushed, the FUEL line and the new Brushless "mid-range" which start with model number 27**

Well, lots of places have this kit on sale for $199, like Acme, CPO, Tool Up, Tool Barn, etc., but, as far as I know, they don't have coupon codes to stack on top of the sale price like Northern Tool does.

Home Depot also has it for $199 and if you can find it in-store and you are in an area with the 11% rebate, you could theoretically get it for $177 after rebate there.

So is this great as far as price and performance wise? Looking to start buying tools for diy around the house.

This is the lowest price I've seen for this kit (slickdeals search). But there will be lots of other sales coming up during the holidays, so if you don't necessarily want the brushless Milwaukee stuff you might consider waiting to see what other power tool options pop-up.

IMHO we have seen some great brushless deals recently, and to me it forecasts better deals trying to get those Christmas dollars. There are many horses in this race all starting at the same time. the previous generation (what people are upgrading from) had a much more staggered release, and so they didn't need to compete on price like they do now.

Depends on the model, Milwaukee is a top brand..

DeWalt has some low end models closer to black and decker.
