I currently have a SB6141. Occasionally, I get very slow speeds with intermittent connectivity in the evenings. If I reboot the modem, it does not reconnect until sometime in the middle of the night. Then everything is fine.
If I don't reboot, things are fine the next morning too.

Charter says it could be my modem.
Would a new SB6183 help?

I would love to know the answer to this since I've been having identical problems with the same modem for some time now on TWC/Spectrum.

I paid a little more for a Motorola MB7420 and the peace of mind of knowing I'm buying something manufactured by Motorola and not Arris.

Why is Motorola better?

The website shows that the mb7420 is from a Motorola licensee. Look at the bottom of the page. It clears shows that the Motorola name is licensed.

It's probably from Zoom:

The modem support list shows that the SB6183 does not support ipv6. That seems bad from a future-proofing stand point.

It aint your modem
Take it over to a neighbors at the time it fails and connect it to their drop ...works fine yes?

If that works, it would be my wiring?
The modem stats page shows good signal strength and SNR on all channels.
Everything has worked fine for almost 4 years before the issue occasionally started happening.

Make your isp come pull a fresh coaxial line from the main box on the street to the house.

the 6141 is capable off 300+ Mbps, but several ISP's cap it at 100Mbps (citing signal quality/noise). having only 8 bonded channels also means you're splitting bandwidth with the neighbors at peak demand so it can be the modem but mostly the provider throttling the bandwidth (several co.s have the SB6141 as EOL so it may be a ploy).

I have the same issue. Crawls after 3PM. I have the SB6183 on Comcast. 100mbps service.

Probably yes since SB6183 has more channel bonding which makes for less congestion per channel I assume.

Here in Dallas we have 32 channels although only max 300mbit speeds on Charter. They haven't announced Docsis 3.1 so that'll be the max speeds for a while. Also no official support for a 32channel modem like the SB8200 but there's people saying they still got it activated and enjoy 32 channel bonding. I'm only using 16 channels on my SB6183 as seen in the pic.

Maybe you two should call your ISP and have them fix the issue instead of asking around on the internet. They won't charge you and, worst case, you have to buy a new modem.
