It's a pity to see builders revert to 8GB ram offerings because of that craze with ram chips

True, but overall it's not a bad deal if you look at the CPU, GPU, case, PSU, and optional extras.

Yes, average value of all parts included would be more on Newegg than what they ask for a pre-built system, so price wise it's a good deal. Especially since i5-8400 is OOS everywhere.

The gpu should be a bottleneck when gaming before the cpu is. The last thing I would expect to bottleneck on this build would be the ram. There is a reason modern gpus have such large amounts of gddr5, otherwise they would have none and sell you 'gpu' ram.

There are a lot of cheap gamers out there (or people who simply don't want to overspend or just have more cash for the gpu) stuck at 8gb just because dual channel is better than single channel and all sticks pretty much start at 4gb (there are 2gb sticks but the price difference makes the 4gb a no brainer) They also rock the lowest i3 once the i3-6100 came out so they can put more cash to the gpu.

I personally would recommend you go to any place they sell gaming pcs and have them on display. Hopefully they will have some titles you can try out. You can pull the task manager up and lock it so its always on top of all applications. You can than monitor ram/cpu usage while you game to see for yourself.

Dunno why this got down voted unless he posted a referral link or something. Ordered last night and got a i5-8600k, gtx 1070, corsair water cooling, 16gb ddr4 3000mhz ram, ASRock z370 mobo, 650w thermaltake psu, 400c corsair case, 240gb wd ssd and some free bs for 1100. Would cost me ~1200 for all the parts on decent sale and I'd possibly have wait longer to build it (depending on when 8000s come back in stock).

Only thing I'm worried about is the ram but it was +60 for picking your brand and they say "certified gaming brand" so will see what I get. Dunno how much they budge if you call and complain cause you got some garbo but w.e. Also not sure if the WD drive actually does the speeds it says, confusing in reviews but w.e was planning on about $1100 without an SSD and was gonna hopefully buy a 960 on bfriday.

Theres also a 90% chance whoever builds it does a better wiring job than me cause im lazy af when I build myself, so thats a plus.
