Auto brightness itself is a worthy upgrade from paperwhite one.

There's only one version/generation of Voyage afaik (part of "7th generation", released 2014: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/help/id=201263790).

Looking at the Paperwhite prices - is it worth saving only $10 for a refurbished unit?

I use my Paperwhite for a couple hours every single day for over 3 years now. It is tempting to get a new one and trade in my current one. I would be lost without it. I get to wondering of the longevity of mine now with such heave use for over 3 years.

I have a refurb unit and no issues, thus far.

Grandparents are in their 90s and avid readers (also homebound). Was thinking about getting one of these for them but not entirely sure how adaptable a 90 year old is to going digital from paper. Still looks like a good deal.

If you're buying for a gift, make sure you test it carefully. I bought a 'certified refurbished' Voyage last year, and the page turn buttons didn't work on the first one they sent me.

Good price. I have both Paper white 2nd Gen and Voyage. The screen quality is identical, but I do like having physical buttons and the case is also nicer, better grip.

I wouldn't do it, downloading the books and switching between books methinks would be too difficult for a senior citizen

My 75 yr old mother absolutely loves her Kindle. She likes that she can increase the font size so she doesn't have to struggle to see the text. She also likes that she can change to a different book without getting up. And at doctor's appointments, she always had something to read. She has a smartphone but she can't figure it out at all, if that tells you anything. I thought I was going to have to download the books for her, but one I set up the account, she has managed that ok. HTH
