If you can live without the caché of Gibson, these are amazing values. I have a "ebony" pro II, I love it. (That said, I really want a Gibson lol)

Thanks. Many won't have tax with MF, and they offer 8% reward credit. Though guitars are the one thing worth considering buying locally if you think you might return it because of return shipping.

Can somebody merge the two threads?

This is a great deal...the guitar will not appreciate in value, that's for sure, but for $320, jeez, this deal CANNOT BE BEAT in terms of price:quality ratio. I have the pro II with coil splitting pickups and also a decibel boost on one of the tone knobs. If there is anything I would change on the guitar it is probably the pickups, from which I would prefer a more nuanced sound. The tuning machines (usually another weak point for inexpensive guitars) have been perfect on mine. Doesn't mention the nut material but I imagine it is plastic.

When I got my Epi Les Paul form GC the first thing I did, while it was still in the box, was take it to a renowned technician in my town and have it properly set up. It costs a1/3 the price of the instrument but it is very important to have the guitar set up correctly.

That's because they are both owned by the same company.

Yeah, that's weird. I created this post and then after publishing it saw the headline says "Epiphone Logo" so I edited the original post and . . . Poof, a duplicate shows up.

I can't find a "delete" or "merge" option. Sorry for any confusion people.

Oh, and ROCK ON!

It's no problem, it happens sometimes Smilie I removed the dupe thread and moved the response from that one into this one.

I got this guitar off here when it was $300. For whatever reason the goldtops sell less than the other finishes.

Mine came in a Gibson box. It was my fist electric guitar and I didn't realize Guitar Center had sent me a return. I never found anything really wrong with guitar. One of the pot knobs was a little off-center, and the low E (#6) string had a slight buzz when playing acoustically (never heard with the amp). Its been my understanding more low E strings buzz than not (especially with low action) but that is one of the things more experienced buyers specifically check for. I spent 65 getting thing set up. I've been happy with the guitar. It holds tune (Grover) really well. Its a heavy guitar. A strap helps even just sitting and practicing .
