Please help me decide between Voyage and Paperwhite. I'm trading in my 1st gen paperwhite. It's just too slow to navigate.

$20 trade in for a regular kindle does not seem like a great deal.

What is required for trade in? I have a kindle that does not turn on anymore. Trade-in value is $5, but I would do it for the extra discount offer. Do I need to include a charging cable?

The Trade-In program still applies, except you only get a $20 bonus instead of a $50 discount. The $50 discount applies specifically only for the Kindle Paperwhite Wi-Fi w/ Special Offers.

You are overlooking the $50 promo discount. In any case, if you don't want to part with a working Kindle, that's fine. Obviously, the program is a better deal for those with broken units.

I have a Kindle keyboard 3G that will only get $10 for trade in. It works perfectly for daytime reading but without a backlight it doesn't get used much.

Is the Paper White so much better that I should give up the rarely used 3G and pay $60?

I have the same device and in the same predicament (although I have the official case for it with the built-in front light). I decided that I'd rather keep it as a spare since it has the free 3G in it (who knows if I take a cruise or go somewhere without free WiFi and I might want to download something). Amazon charges a huge price premium for the 3G models now so I think I'd rather hang onto my old Kindle Keyboard 3G, even if it's not my "daily driver"

Just my 2 cents. Even if you want to get rid of it, I'm guessing you could sell it for way more than $10 on ebay or craigslist.

IMO yes. It has higher resolution text on a whiter background that is much easier to read. And it has the built in light for night or dark room reading. Decide for yourself if those features would make you use it more.

I don't see a lot of value in the 3G personally. You can load practically unlimited books on the Kindle when you're on WiFi. Only value is for those who like to make impulse book purchases.

the paperwhite is on sale for $30 off right now, so if I wait for the trade-in bonus to arrive, it will no longer be on sale, right?

or did I read the deals wrong?

thanks!

Looks like you don't get the $50 plus trade-in value immediately to take advantage of today's sale. You'll only get the discount once they have received your Kindle. You can save up the discounts for the next (BF?) deal. Cheers

I think there is a catch here. They specifically said in the promotion details that your $50 will reduce the price to $69.99. So, if you are buying it at a discount, it may only reduce it to $69.99 anyway. The regular $20 promotion plus today's sale (will come back frequently) gives you the same $69.99

Oh can someone confirm this? They are selling $89.99 for Paperwhite version. I thought when I trade in my old one it will drop the price to $39.99 after the credit and final price is $19.99 if use the trade in gift card. Is it too good to be true now? And does anyone know when does this sale end?

Based on ebay, $60 is a good price for your kk 3g. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_...5573.m1684
