Sony - XPERIA X Compact 4G LTE with 32GB Memory Cell Phone (Unlocked) - White $280

White is on sale for $279.99
Black is 319.99, and blue is $349.99 (the going price when not on sale)

Note, this uses USB-C connector, not the micro-USB as in Z5 and Z3 Compact. Battery wise it's pretty good, for me it almost lasts two days for light usage. The battery care will pick up your charging habit and leaves the battery charged to 90% until right before the time you unplug it when it will charge it fully. They say this prolongs the battery life.

I have this phone and like it a lot. SD 650 works fine with the 4.6" 720p screen. If you are looking for a current mid-level COMPACT GSM phone this is your only choice. You will also need to flash the Euro firmware to enable the fingerprint sensor: https://forum.xda-developers.com/...t-t3607156 Doing this doesn't void the warranty.

Incidentally, currently updates to android 7.1.1 and likely to get android 8.

Yep, X Compact is on the list to get Oreo.

If you don't care the warranty, you can easily find LeEco Le S3 about $120 with the same specs.

I had this phone. I actually like how Sony post process their photos. It run stock Android and gets frequent updates.

I sold it because at 9.5mm it's too thick, so with a case is even worse, and the plastic housing made it feel cheap in the hands with lots of finger print and small scratches if not using a case. As a result it didn't feel compact in the pocket. That's really the only downside for the price.

Also the American version have the fingerprint scanner disabled so you have to flash it with the European version to enable it, though in turn it would disable WiFi Calling for American carriers.

I'm tempted because I'm an android guy and really like the small form factor, but at this price with these somewhat outdated specs, crippled fingerprint sensor, no wireless charging or VoLTE with AT&T, I feel like I'd rather just switch to an iphone. Can't believe no one else is making decent compact android phones!

Anyone know the downside with flashing euro firmware? I'm guessing you'd lose android pay?

Three must have's for me on Android is good call quality (speaker phone too), sharp screen, and a very good camera. For anyone using this phone, I would greatly appreciate some feedback. Appreciated!

Like I said, the only downside I'm aware of is no WiFi calling. Snapdragon 650 with 720p stock Android has pretty decent performance, the only person who would think it's slow are demanding gamers. Even the Moto Z Play with SD625 is buttery smooth.

I haven't read any indication that flashing the stock firmware would break safetynet and stop Android Pay from working. (Though I bought the international version so I didn't have to flash.)
