"1x HDMI
3x Displayport"
Why is this a thing these days? Are people out there who really prefer displayport for some reason? It seems like HDMI was nearly ubiquitous, and then this competing style of connector showed up and now everyone is split?

It's better for supporting higher resolutions to display crisper image and faster refresh rate or fps like the gent above stated, but I sell computers all the time with DisplayPort and consequently need adapters for older monitors but new monitors have both options. I agree that splitting unevenly is a problem for multiple displays. 2 DP and 2 HDMI would be good or 2&4 but not common yet

one HDMI and one DP is not my cup of tea because a videophile can see the difference even on still images when using dual screens side by side of the same make, model, year on default settings

see link, and below is copy pasted from the link
https://www.google.com/amp/www.te...257/%3famp

***Resolution, picture quality and bandwidth

DisplayPort version 1.2 can support video resolutions of up to 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K) at a refresh rate of 60Hz, and it supports all common 3D video formats. In terms of bandwidth, it can manage 17.28Gbps. Version 1.3, when it arrives, will support up to 8192 x 4320 (8K) resolution, or two simultaneous 4K streams. It will also double bandwidth to 32.4Gbps.

The downside of DisplayPort at the moment is that it doesn't support ethernet data, and the standard doesn't have an audio return channel. However, it is capable of multiple video outputs which means more than one display.

Meanwhile, HDMI version 1.4 is the most common at the moment. This supports the same 4K resolution as DisplayPort 1.2, but at just 30Hz (or 4096 x 2160 at 24Hz). HDMI 2.0 is newer on the scene in a few devices such as this Sony TV. This doubles the refresh rate to 60 Hz as well as increases bandwidth from 10.2- to 18Gbps

Display port is the future of displays it can do everything HDMI does and much more throughput. Most new monitors that will have the features a 700 dollar graphics card needs have display port. So if your buying a 1080 ti and expect to use somewhat older protocols that's not worth complaining about.

A lot of the Newegg reviews have complaints about coil whine.

I stand corrected. Apparently Displayport is all set for a complete takeover because it's the way of the future. And HDMI is hanging on because it's already popular, and tries to update its specifications to keep up.

I just tried and the code does work now. Also looks like you can get a $20 rebate as someone posted above. Really tempted to get this, unfortunately I'm in California and tax kills it for me.

Need to get out of this state.
