These are good for a modem and other small things, but don't expect this to keep your computer running for more than 2-3 minutes...

Bought one a few months ago. First outage we had the unit stopped working. Nothing it was protecting was harmed but unit died on first drop. Bought a 600W Cyberpower and haven't had any issues. Not sure what APC's deal is on their low end stuff.

Depending on your computer (mine + monitors is only about 50-60W) and what you're currently doing.. if you're gaming it probably wouldn't last long, but if you're idle (browsing, etc) it'd probably last you 15-25 min.

Buyer beware (for certain applications).... I bought this to safely power down my Synology Diskstation (DS415play).

The DS does not recognize this UPS for more than a few minutes after initially plugging it into the USB. Within minutes, I get a new log entry advising that the UPS back-up is unrecognized and it does not work to safely power down my NAS & drives when I test it.

Boo!

Is there a 12v DC UPS available for things like modems and routers?

Thanks OP, exactly what I needed for my home server / router / wifi. Been waiting a few weeks for one.

I have had a few 30 second power blips in the last few weeks so it will be more than enough to get through those. I don't need to run for an extended outage, I can shut down in that case.

Order placed!

Edit: For anyone that was wondering, this unit DOES have a replaceable battery, although at $30 it will be barely economical to replace. At least it's replaceable unlike some of the small competitor units (based on feedback from others here).

It appears to be a 5Ah battery:

With the monitor in suspend and the system just idling, I could see it lasting that long. I have a 600VA unit that runs my GTX 1080/I5 3570 and a 32 inch monitor (all on, but not doing much) for over 30 minutes on battery. Now if I'm gaming, it's more like 5-10 minutes.

It's all very dependent on how much energy your system uses on idle/full load/partial load.

These are designed for small devices like a Roku, router, modem or echo device. 255 watts won't power much.

Even just as a surge protector this is pretty solid deal. Ordered for my wife's iMac.

It's entirely dependent on your setup and load. Mine with a 1350VA UPS lasts about 45 minutes. Probably less than 15 if experiencing full load (~300W).

Where's the USB port on the UPS? I thought the UPS sends a signal out via USB or Serial/Com port to let the connected device that it's running off the battery and needs to safely shut down
