As much as gamestop has gone down hill this is an excellent price for one of the better reviewed Dragon Quest games.

I just picked up the ps2 version of this for about 8 bucks and still have an old ps2 super slim hooked up. Are the changes in this worth the cost, if I'm not concerned about it being mobile?

It's been a while since I've played the PS2 version but there are no random battles (you see monsters on the map), a couple new playable characters, save anywhere, those are the main things I can think of.

They're both worthy playthroughs unless you absolutely can't stand random battles. I'm the type that has to play the latest/greatest version but the game's good either way. I know if I planned to sit on the couch and play for hours it'd be the PS2 version but for everything else it'd be the 3DS.

Best price I've seen on this game so far though!

True, but when an item has to be on clearance for customers to get a deal then that doesn't bode well imo. That's pretty much the only time I shop at GameStop: for clearance items.

If you plan to give this as a gift or want it factory sealed when it arrives, just pay the extra $5 on Amazon. Gamestop will sell you an opened, resealed copy.

Been waiting for the price of this game to drop. One of the best JRPGs ever made.

Valid point, maybe price matching to Amazon or Best Buy would be the way to go.

PS2 version has orchestrated music, which was pretty great, IMO. 3DS version does not.

As well as the other changes noted, the graphics took a pretty big hit. They were much better on the ps2.

They sometimes even have the nerve to sell "brand new" games that are fully open with pre-owned stickers on the box. And then they lie to you when you go in to make a return and say they don't sell that item new. The only time I shop at Gamestop anymore is if I think the game won't ever be cheaper anywhere else.

I own the game both on PS2 and 3DS. I played probably 10-15 hours of the PS2 version years ago and never went back. I'm planning on giving it another go soon, but I'm not sure if I should play in 4k on pcsx2 or play the 3DS version for the extra features even though the graphics and music take a hit.
