I just picked up this one: https://slickdeals.net/f/10661320-upgraded-version-vantrue-n2-dual-1080p-dvr-car-dash-cam-110-free-s...

Not sure if the code still works, but it's a nice little camera. When doing the dual camera setup, it saves each stream into it's own file which is nice. This has a "cabin" camera, not a real rear camera although you can see out the rear with it. It works well in my truck anyway. In a car with a high rear deck maybe not so much.

Not sure why they didn't continue the design of the first one, it was more hidden.

From what I've read, some people prefer this style of camera for the button style and placement and also being able to rotate the camera to view different angles. I prefer the wedge style of the c1 and wifi which I currently have installed in my car.

But, they did continue with the wedge design of the c2 pro.

I have this camera. Larger screen and buttons are the main features of this style. WiFi is nice, but easier to stick memory card into computer and use a file manager to view/manage videos.

In terms of video quality, license plates are legible when you're 1 to 2 cars behind the plates. 720p@30fps, 720p@60fps and 1080p@30fps

I picked up a Rexing V1P (without any sale/promotion) after my wife got rear ended by a hit and run (why I want rear view... at least I'd know what kind of truck it was). I was tempted to pick up the vantrue for my second car. After using the Rexing for a bit, I wish I would have paid a bit more money for something a bit better. If I had a truck, the cabin camera would probably be alright, like you said, but the second car is a CRV so I'm not sure that would get me much out the rear of the car.

Kind advise stay away from lithium or any battery dashcams! They won't survive hot and freezing temp for long and they are for occasional use only! I had four of Anker cams burnt swollen and in two case screen detached ! They ended up refunding me for the hardwired install since none of them worked

I really wished this had Wi-Fi. Sometimes I would prefer to extract a piece of video off and save it to the phone or cloud immediately in case of potential video loss.
But I see your point, WiFi is not a critical requirement.

This one has a emergency record button. You press it to record something that you want to keep; prevent the loop recording from overwritting it.
