All time low on Amazon and a very solid price.

Very misleading to post using a photo of the corner band, when the sale price only applies to the black rubber band. I got excited for a second since I love the aesthetics of the cork, but it's like 80% more expensive. Good deal on the black model though.

Has anyone seen a copy of the Bodum electric vacuum coffee maker within recent memory? That was my parents' favorite coffee maker, but a few parts on it failed a while back so they threw it out. I'd love to buy them a replacement system, but I can't seem to find anything anywhere. There's the stovetop Pebo version, but I know that'll wind up broken. Frown

Good deal, but this isn't really a replacement for a chemex with that permanent filter. I have one and don't use the permanent filter. Coffee Flys through, I brew in it with just a paper filter and it does a good job. Just FYI. Good deal though

do you mean a siphon brewer?

If so it's not worth the hassle unless you really like the aesthetic.

you can make coffee with permanent filters, it'll just taste different since the paper filter isn't absorbing oils.

you can always adjust grind size to get an appropriate amount of brew time.

but yeah, a metal filter will never taste like a chemex.

Good tool for filtering a cold brew! I'd prefer a paper filter.

I have had this for the last year. Bought a Chemex on the last sale for 20$. So much better than the Bodum. It's all about the filter with the Chemex. Now I just use the Bodum for ice coffee that goes straight into the fridge after a brew but still use a Chemex filter.

Yeah, that's the type. What was nice is it came with an integrated electric heater base, so running it was about as much work as a typical drip coffee maker. Put water in the bottom, coffee in the top, turn it on, come back when it's done. The base would automatically go to a lower heat setting to keep the coffee warm. I've seen the stovetop kinds and they're a pretty big hassle.

Agree with baowaodao. I had this Bodum and then recently bought the Chemex. I broke the Bodum one hence the Chemex purchase. I always used a cone filter inside of the permanent filter for this Bodum because otherwise I found that the water drained too quickly. Honestly, it made a good cup of coffee, very comparable to the Chemex. Aesthetically, the Chemex is nicer but at least with the Bodum, you can use the permanent filter +/- regular cone filters.

You, too, can pay to manually do what a coffee maker does for you.
