this is advertised (here and on the page at Amazon) as supporting Dolby TrueHd and DTS-HD. unless something has changed the only way to get these formats is via HDMI connection. you can still get Dolby and DTS, just not the higher quality lossless formats.

I bought these through Amazon, no sd, at around $7 a few months ago. Solid cables, won't fall out like others, good quality.

I believe you are 100% correct. I do have a cable just like this from Monoprice and am currently using it, going from my LG to my Yamaha because i cant get them to play nice (hdmi control or ARC) it is a well built cable better then most with a solid connector. for dolby true or dts and atmos i need to stream from my Xbox.
