The e-mail also has 8TB for $169.99 with code BTEBRCF24. The 8TB sold for $169.99 last Black Friday and $160.99 on the latest Amazon Prime Day. If you can wait until the next Black Friday I can see the price dropping to at least $159.

touch wood my seagates never failed on me however I have had a higher rate of failures with western digital

I believe only the Archive drives use SMR. The drive in this one is most likely a Barracuda.
