YMMV - Chamberlain 1/2 HP Chain Drive Garage Door Opener HD210 $52

I just bought at my local Home Depot in Houston (610N near Ella) this garage door opener for $52, clearance marked - normally priced $128. They had at least 20 of these. I had looked at openers there a few days and they were $128, so I know this mark down just happened. It still shows up online as $128, so no clue if priced this way at other Home Depots.

It's a good deal for the product, but after switching to a belt drive model I'll never go back. Considering you change these every decade or more, I'd recommend spending a little more on a belt drive model (and with Wifi if you want remote control of it).

Why do people prefer belt over chain? I've replaced a chain drive for a belt and the new system was much quieter. Is noise the only reason?

I got model WD832KEV when it was posted here about a year ago. Now our current one is misbehaving I pulled the new one out of storage and called a company (American Doors or something like that; area code 77840) to install it for us and they charged us $380+ for it. That seemed very high for us so I put it back in the storage. Is $380 good cost to install this? I am not a handy person so there is no way I can install it myself. Our old one still works except for the remote. TIA

I got the identical model to what I had before. I just changed the box itself and kept everything else. Didn't take very long.

$380 seems a little high, imo.

I recently posted garage dooropeners and this gentleman, BUL209, installs garage openers for a living and would probably answer any garage door opener question with ease. You could try a private message with him and he will probably answer. Good luck.

Anyone find them in southern CA? Too lazy to take a drive to my local store. Took a look at BrickSeek and every store is listed as no stock.

Nice price, but really want to avoid any chain drives. Still looking for a good screw or belt deal...
