Guessing these are Made in China now? I have the 610B which is US made, lifetime warranty. Lasted 12 years and started to get motor whine. The front grill also broke off at the tabs. Vornado is an awesome company to deal with, sent it in for repair and also they sent me a new grill no hassle.

How's the performance when compared against 660.

The larger the blade, the more efficient its going to be per watt and decibel at moving air. That's just basic science.

So common sense dictates that if you can afford to have a ceiling fan instead of a floor fan, get the ceiling fan.

To put this in perspective, my 72" ceiling fan is rated at 8881 CFM (that's how much air it moves in a minute). This Vornado floor unit is rated at 331 CFM, meaning the ceiling fan moves as much air as 26 Vornados on high, and will make WAY less noise than those too.

But you can't move a ceiling fan from one room to another, ceiling fans don't work well in rooms with very low ceiling height, and you may be renting, or using this in a garage, so there's a point for vornados, but just do the math and don't put a vornado floor unit in a room that can easily fit a ceiling fan. That'd be idiotic.

I picked up the Vornado 630 for $55 from an Amazon lightning deal back in June, so this price is great! However, I found it completely inadequate for my large (about 12'x15') master bedroom. I moved it to my smaller (about 12'x10') office, and it works well there.

For my master bedroom, I picked up the floor-standing 783 (which I think is in the same class as the 660). Based on my experience, the 630 feels like a big step down from the 660.

The old USA one is amazing. This isn't that.

Sad. Do you know if any of their models are still made in USA? I would pay extra for one over this one

This also ignores the fact that a ceiling fan dries my eyes out while this fan, directed at a wall as intended, doesn't. I don't think it's a perfect item (I have the large one) but it's not apples to apples comparable to a ceiling fan other than portability.

or using this in a garage
So I know you're actually saying DON'T use a ceiling fan in a garage, but man, that actually sounds awesome.
