Amazon Echo also provides hands-free voice control to Pandora, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn. Plus, Echo is Bluetooth-enabled so you can stream other popular music services like iTunes from your phone or tablet. Echo has been fine-tuned to deliver crisp vocals with dynamic bass response. Unless you need the smaller size, I don't think new Echo (not the Plus model) is $25 better than the 1st gen model. Also I prefer changing the volume with the ring as opposed to buttons. I can do it blind with my Echo, for the Dot I gotta look over to check which buttons I'm pressing.

Also the new Echo has not had raving reviews. Many folks saying that the 1st gen has better speakers than the 2nd.
