i know this is an unlock latest gen i5, but for this price point wouldn't i7 make more sense?

*edit* nm this is fastest than 80% of the 7th gen i7, but used ton more power

Seems like there have been too many Alienware deals with i7 (yes, last gen, I get it) and 1080s for $1199ish if I remember correctly. Wonder if this is really any good in comparison.

This is a 6 Core CPU, not quad core like last Gen. In maximum benchmarks, especially the multi-threaded one, it is good amount faster than i7-7700K. And the price is high because it is using completely new hardware and Z370 chipset.
If you get a Z370 or Z170 for 6th or 7th Gen Processors then that is the end of the road for you.

RAM is very expensive now. You can upgrade it.

Question: Does Dell install the OS on the 7200RPM drives or on the SSD?

I've seen other builders put an SSD into a PC, but just leave it in as extra storage which is a big waste. This is important to me since I want to get this for a family member who probably couldn't reinstall the OS herself.

I never seen anything like that unless you are buying the SSD separately. Here the OS comes installed in the SSD.

They actually concentrated on the area which will really benefit the performance for gaming and belive me, having 16GB Ram is not one of them. A 6 Core Gaming Processor, top end GPU and a lightning fast PCIe SSD are the example. At this price, with this kind of configuration, you will probably get a Quad Core CPU and a normal SATA III SSD.

I've never seen any manufacturer do that. That's plain stupidity
