Is this like the Universal version? That is, LTE/phone calls here in the USA via GSM?

I bought this for my wife back in June and the WiFi is spotty. The 5ghz AC channel is disabled even though the hardware supports it. The only way to enable is by unlocking the bootloader and rooting, which is not an easy process. It's a nice tablet, but the WiFi dropping constantly will drive you crazy.

Can anyone who has used one of these comment on the speakers, given the Harman-Kardon name?

Just wondering, because the last thing I bought with premium audio branding was garbage. I have an Msi laptop that is fantastic in every way except for the Dynaudio speakers, which are tiny, tinny, quiet, and horrendous on the low end, with a supplementary "woofer" that makes everything sound like it is coming from the right channel. I'll pay a premium for excellent sound because music is important to me, but I'd prefer not to pay extra again for weak badge engineering or a meaningless licensing deal.

I have the 64gb version I got for about this price on a sale a while back. Over all it's an outstanding tablet. They upgraded to UI 5.0 which is nougert based I think, big improvement over 4.0. The screen is bright and clear. The sounds is very loud for a tablet and clear, the head phones that are with the 64gb version are actually very good. The lack of the 5g channel is annoying without rooting, which isn't impossible just not as easy as Samsung or similar tablets. Honestly my 2.4 never drops and has decent download speed so no need for me to unlock the 5g channel.

I had the 64GB version. I let it go because the lack of 5GHz WiFi was too unbearable for me. I have gigabit Uverse internet and I wasn't getting more than about 25Mbps down on 2.4GHz. Connection was almost always dropping as well. Very frustrating for an otherwise great tablet.

Don't think it matters much. Harmon Kardon makes receivers. I don't know why their speakers get branded. If it was Klipsch, KEF, or B&W speakers, I'd pay more attention.

I own ELAC UB5s and I wouldn't pay a lick of attention if they put their name on a phone or tablet. There's nothing you can do with 10mm drivers other than software tuning. They're worthless gimmicks.

After the nexus 6p disaster I will never purchase anything by Huawei again. Not so much that the product failed, but that they refuse to stand behind it.

They make (made) speakers as well. They are also the parent company of Infiniti and JBL if I remember correctly, or at least they used to be anyway. Think they do home theater in a box type speaker setups now.

You don't know!? lol
They've been making speakers for most major car brands for decades. They also make the iconic Harman Kardon SoundSticks speakers. The Soundsticks III with very few minor changes compare to the original is still selling very well after 17 years.
