You plug your antenna into the HDHomeRun and then plug the HDHomeRun into your router and it puts the TV channels on your WiFi network so you can watch live TV on your phone, tablet, computer, etc. This model has 4 tuners which means you can watch four different channels on four different devices. They also have a DVR option for $35 a year which allows unlimited recording.

i got the extend, and it's very handy to be able to modify the bandwidth consumption at this source box (about half what the quattro will demand) to do otherwise would require a pc (Emby or Plex). so if your home network isn't fast with 1gig wired and not congested dual band AC wifi, then i would NOT get this quattro - you'd be better off buying two extends to achieve 4 tuners.

if you still have any 10/100 wired distribution hubs or router on your LAN - it's time to get 1gig switch ports if you plan to use this hdhomerun - it works noticeably bad over 10/100 versus 1gig ethernet even when transcoded by the extend or a dedicated pc.

*LAN requirements, not ISP requirements.

No you can use this product along with what you have from xfijity. I just purchased the 2 tuner model about a week ago for $80 and ended up returning it. Sending broadcast signals over wifi sounds great on paper, but it just didn't work that well overall. Pulling public channels directly from the antenna to the TV was great and worked well. When adding the HomeRun box into the mix, I got more distortion and audio cut out as time went on. Power cycling the HomeRun helped, but I had to do that every other day to fix the problem.

I have a Nighthawk AC1750 with QoS to prioritize the streaming data and plenty of bandwidth. I only wanted to stream video to 1 TV. The HomeRun retail box advertises a "plug and go" mentality, but that's really far from the truth. You need to be a bit technical and if you run into problems there is no manual - you go on their website and read generic troubleshooting steps anyone would try except your 70 year old grandma.

Also, it's worth mentioning you need a 802.11ac router to stream HD to your TV otherwise it's going to be standard definition.

The HDHomeRun cable card product may work for you if your boxes use a cable card. Works the same as the HDHomeRun plus gets rid of monthly payments on the cable boxes.

You would need a HDHomeRun Prime, a CableCARD from Comcast, and something to record with (like Windows Media Center, Plex, NextPVR, or Silicon Dust's DVR service) as well as devices to replace the Comcast boxes like Fire TVs (unless you already have smart TVs or ones that can stream DLNA).
