Great deal for this tablet. It's retail for $100, on sale for $79.99 at Target. With the 25% off coupon that you get from texting TOY to 827438, it drops it down to around $60. If you have red card you can get another 5% off (or with my discover card I'm getting 10% off).

It's the lowest I've seen, it's still $75 on amazon, so when I got it for $54 today after my cashback rewards I was very pleased.

I was literally typing this deal when you were posting, lol.

Great deal, even better if you have the 10% cashback through discover card. I bought this today Smilie

I have an older leappad 2 that is damaged, so we have a ton of cartridges, does this accept those cartridges? I'm having trouble trying to find out.

I don't think so. I grumbled when we got the ultra and couldn't use the cartridges on the new ones anymore, but it really is so much better having the games online. No losing them and they're cheaper. Target also has a $20 gift card for the Leap pad App Store for 11.25, I picked one of those up too.

Why not get a Fire kids edition and not limit yourself to a proprietary app library?

I have the fire and really don't like it. I just bought this to replace the fire, hopefully it works out.

The leapstart system was amazing but we ran out of books, I'm just hoping this is also good since leapfrog products have really worked well in the past for us.

We have both. This is just way better. The quality of games and features are more fun, more educational, and more user friendly in my opinion.

This tablet has specialized learning games for kids with a proven track record. This is a company who for decades has specialized in the development of kids through interactive games.

I think the best LeapPad version was the LeapPad 2. LeapPad 3 was awful. I know the first Ultra was buggy and slow. Not sure about this one. We still occasionally use the LeapPad 3.

I would expect this to accept the cartridges as the storage is extremely small for downloads.

Their products seem to have gone downhill.

the storage is expandable with a mini sd card. We had the Leap pad original, leap pad 2, 3, and ultra, the ultimate is different from the ultra. We've never had this one, but I have noticed an improvement in each generation we've bought. In my experience, 3-8 is perfect for these. Although, my older kids still take them from the little ones from time to time because the camera games are fun and funny. I only had to use the warranty for one leap pad 2, the others are still going but the older ones won't let me hand them down to their little siblings. All are in advanced classes, not sure if the leap pads helped, but they did help them learn to read and recognize their letters.
