$130 will be a good deal as LG and Samsung 4k players have been at that price and even less.

Does Sony still use all that awful DRM on their machines?

If we have Xbox One S, is a device like this redundant?

All blu ray players are infected with cinavia. Been that way for years now.

Standalone 4k players have their advantages (secondary hdmi for receiver, Dolby vision support, better remote, etc) but for most people, yeah.

I have the Sony, it's a excellent player that can play almost any disk format out there. I jumped in right after I got my Hisence 55" $k TV and they were pretty new and priced at 300 which was a deal for everything it could do then. Only complaint is it doesn't support Dolby Vision which my TV doesn't support either. When somebody has a problem with the player Sony has been replacing them so at 100 off I'd do it again. It upconverts regular Blue Ray disks so nicely that it made my copy of Rango look almost as good as the UHD copy too.
It plays most of the files on my network too, just not as pretty as Plex does it if you need a basic networked media player and it has all the usual smart TV features as well. Sony has been pushing out firmware updates to improve the playback and any issues found do they are fully supporting it except for saying they will never add Dolby Vision support so if that one thing is important to you buy something else, otherwise this is a do everything player that does it all very well and loads disks very fast.

I have a XBoneS and still picked up one of these back in July because I didn't care for the Blu-ray app which required going into a soft-menu to toggle options, etc. It also has HDR-capable YouTube which nothing but certain Samsung TVs or Chromecast Ultra provide that. You also have more control about video and audio settings.

Just sucks that Sony decided not to add Dolby Vision support. Jerks.

For this player it is. It also plays all formats of HD audio, SACD and DVD Audio, which is another plus if you have any of either type of disks around, I do.
It also has a lot of picture tweaks you can play with to make whatever video disk your playing look like you want it to.

I got one of these for $150 refurbished from bestbuy about a month or two ago. It's a fantastic player. At $199 I would even recommend it.
