Experience a new level of precise control for your favorite games. The Steam Controller lets you play your entire collection of Steam games on your TV-even the ones designed without controller support in mind.
Features dual trackpads, HD haptic feedback, dual-stage triggers, back grip buttons, and fully-customizable control schemes. Find your favorite mappings in the Steam Community, or create and share your own.
Dual trackpads allow for 1:1 absolute position input via virtual controls like a trackball, adaptive centering joystick, or steering wheel
Dual-stage triggers can be used as analog, digital, or both types of input at the same time. Put your iron-sights on the sweep-in, and then fire with the reliable feel of a tactile switch, all on the same trigger.
Each of the Steam Controller's input zones and buttons has been positioned based on frequency of use, required precision, and ergonomic comfort.

One of these came with my steam machine and it's pretty horrible. I really gave it a chance too.

Stick with an Xbox One controller, it's night and day.

I agree, but I bought mine .. I used it for a month before I threw it in the trash.

The steam software actually makes it worse too... Random button map changes...

After I spent $50 on the controller and frog skin I wanted to like it, but the circular file seemed like the only decision.

I disagree that it needs a hardline. I run it wirelessly and it works fine but my router is also only one room away from the device.

In my and many people's opinion, yes the Steam Controller is better. However it is NOT a "one size fits all" controller, hence why some people don't like it. No controller is.

No XBOX or PS4 controller can't do the mouse-like precision of the Steam Controller's touch pad or tilt/roll gyro sensors. And as they are sold, those can't also can't emulate a keyboard or mouse, while also emulating controller commands, like the Steam Controller can. Or even hit 10% of the customization the Steam Controller offers.

The Steam Controller can do so much more, it's insane. But if you want a traditional stick on the right thumb too, then clearly the Steam Controller doesn't have that in physical sense. (though it does in software emulation) But that's such an obvious and intentional difference, I don't think it's fair to make general statements of XBOX controller being better. They are very clearly different.

....It's like comparing a snowmobile to a jet ski. They are similar, but don't tell me one sucks because it doesn't work on frozen water. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

And that's about 95% of the time why people don't like the Steam Controller, because it has a right thumb pad vs a right thumb stick. I love the Steam Controller, and will happily pay anyone very well for their used one if they offered it to me. (for friends to use when they come over)

You can blindly say "In my and many others", but the fact is, MOST people DO absolutely HATE this controller. Your analogy about a jet ski and snowmobile also makes no sense. This controller was made for gaming, as was the Xbox one controller, and with MOST games it is abysmal to use. I'll use an absurd analogy as well. It's like praising a snowmobile because it works well on the snow, but it was advertise and made as an all terrain and water vehicle. IT SUCKS at most things that it was made for, but hell it works well on the snow, so let's call it the best.

Sorry, but you are flat out wrong. The majority of people DO LOVE the steam controller. Here's the data to support my claim....
  • @AMAZON = 4/5 stars with 2,554 reviews (and "BEST SELLER")
  • @STEAM = 75% Thumbs Up with 6,017 reviews
As for our analogies... My point was the Steam Controller is obviously not designed for people who prefer to have a right thumb stick. (it has a right thumb pad) Yet that is one of the top complaint about it. What my analogy was saying is it's like giving a bad review for a jetski just because you wanted to use it on a frozen lake, when it obviously was not designed for a frozen lake.

You don't like it and are among the 25% who feel that way. I do like it, along with "MOST people". The facts don't lie.

No, sorry but YOU'RE flat out wrong.

Those are people that knew what to expect, and purchased accordingly for their needs. You're not factoring in the millions of people who are using, and prefer the Xbox One controller.

Just because a product is rated decently among the niche group that enjoys it, doesn't make it an excellent, or preferred product.

I wanted to like it. Just couldn't . It feels cheap..thus I spent $15 on a skin..

The thumb pad / gyro is a neat idea..I tried using it to play fps games, but it's not fast enough. Not even close for anything fast.

In the 90's there was a controller called the space orb 360... Best fps controller I ever used. True 360 degree control.

I have kids and multiple gaming computers in the house ...yet the only place that made sense to put the steam controller was in the trash.

Even my kids wanted nothing to do with it.

You are part of the minority, according to the data. With that said, how was your FPS the first week you tried ANY controller on it? For me, I can't play FPS with any controller, except the steam controller. But mouse always wins at FPS REGARDLESS.

That's not how online reviews work. Thousands of people who OWN IT reviewed it, and 75%liked it.

To count the people who NEVER even tried it, is not a metric of how good it is. That's a metric of how biased the community is against change, or how bad the marketing was.

So someone interested in it, should expect 75% likelihood they will like it IF they try it.

I disagree with that analogy, and absolutely do not think you can apply it to ALL products. There are exceptions, and I believe this is one of them. This is not a "blind buy" product.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you're enjoying it, and others as well, but I do believe most people did not like this controller.

Thousands of people reviewed it over the last 2 years, and 75% of them liked it. What more is there to say?

I'd challenge you to find any other controller with that many reviews, in such a short time, with that high a score, and in this price range.
