Now, I recognize this isn't a great price by any means. But maybe you're stuck with FreeSync monitors or something.

You can flash the Vega 64's BIOS to get performance very similar to the more expensive card. Since the card has dual BIOS, there's next to no risk doing this. Honestly if you're willing to do this, buying this at $20 above MSRP is much better than getting a Vega 64 at $500.

Price drop is getting there. Maybe more people will take Vega to consideration once its below MSRP and if they have or looking for a cheap Freesync monitor for BF/CM.

I DO have a Freesync monitor and IIRC this is down from $500 only 2 weeks ago. I'm on it.

Actually, wow, I'm really stoked. I just bought an RX 580 two weeks ago and it's now at $399. This is a smoking deal.

Thanks!

Paul is right. You either pay a premium for G sync monitors or pay a premium for Vega cards. Bad time for DIY, sadly.

Cards used to always be at or below MSRP and then you could tack rebates and sales on to that. And then over time prices would slowly lower even further.

Before bitcoin for example, Vega 56 might have been 399 to start, maybe falling, falling to 350-370 range over a few weeks, then you'd see sales/rebates hitting like 330 consistently. In the old days...

Don't know much about these new cards. Is this about the same or a little better than rx580s? Did they improve them any with power requirements?

This is one of the reviews I looked at. IIRC, it's 33 to 50% faster than the 580 depending. Since it's 33% more than I paid for my 580 (that I expect a full refund on) AND I've got at least one game that I'll use that extra power with (Mass Effect Andromeda) it's a no-brainer for me.

Food for thought: I have Wolfenstein 2 maxed out(Mein Leben!), gaming at 1080p, 60fps, with a very agressive fan profile(temp target is 60c w/ fan max @ 4.9kRPM) on a Vega 64, and the card is juuust barely audible. Admittedly, the GPU sits largely underutilized with that game; although I personally find the fan noise to be quite tolerable under most scenarios.

5% over msrp isn't grossly. If it is, then almost every other card is disgustingly over priced
