Picked up one on the last SD listing. It's actually a nice little unit, as long as you understand it's limitations. It is great for mowing around bushes, walkways, any kind of complex space where you are manhandling a mower, but don't really want to use a trimmer. It's very light and easy on my bad back, though it only cut's 16 inches wide.

1) The batteries would last for a small lawn, but with two sets if you already have some you could almost recharge them fast enough to never run out, especially if this would give you two chargers.

2) It's highest setting is a more of a medium or between medium and high on a regular mower. Annoying if you prefer to leave regular lawn mower on high and use this for trim work, as there is clearly visible height difference.

3) If it wasn't for safeties you really could change the height while mowing. It's an easy to move lever that securely slides into a slot. A person with a long reach can do it without turning it off - still not safe, though.

4) It actually has some sort of mechanical inertia safety that cuts the power to the shaft if the blade slows too quickly, like a clump of really thick grass if you've waited too long in spring. It means it would be hard to bend the shaft. It also means if you wait too long between mowing and have thicker clumps, it's really annoying.

5) The blade is held on by a plastic nut-type assembly. Probably also protects the shaft, but it's a real weak point. Not been a problem over the summer, but a warning.

I just received this today. First off, thanks OP! I'm pretty stoked on this mower so far. The shipping was much faster than expected for free shipping, ordered 11/14 and received today 11/16. Next, other than one minor scratch on the battery cover, mine looks like new and I'm positive the clipping bag was brand new.

For my small yard (0.2 ac lot with big pool/spa taking up most of the back), this is perfect. Batteries ran strong throughout. The undersized bag filled a little quickly this time of year as it's picking up lots of leaves, but that shouldn't be a problem most of the time.

I think this ended up being an outstanding deal, and I'd definitely do business with Direct Tools again.

wow, thanks guys, I just got the last one. I have a very small yard and just the pain of getting my large mower out of the back yard, fill with gas and to the front, is a HUGE PAIN. Then also getting my stupid weedwacker to work (very temperamental) is added hassle. That being the case I usually wait too long to do it and I know it also bugs my wife a bit, even if she doesn't say anything. PLUS my mower has about had it. The cable for the throttle is broken as is the way I need to choke it and also shut it down. I know how to do it, but it is all rigged.

Got the mower for $139 and weedwacker for $29 (which is regularly $79) and free shipping.

Thanks again!!
