I wonder if I can open a Macy's card and save more?

Need a sofa for new apartment, this would be cool.

Sure. But it still would be $800 plus tax including shipping. I bought a sofa from them last year and opened up a credit card account to save $100 off. You can count it as free shipping or $100 off the sofa price Smilie
Also, since it's more than $499, you'll get 12 months no interest offer as well. At least that's what they had last year.

Costco is your best place to buy furniture. FREE shipping and FREE return.

Macy's charges at least 100 bucks for shipping. If you don't like it for some reason you'll have to carry it back to the store to return or pay shipping again to send it back.

No. Costco has such a limited selection, it will never be "your best place" to buy furniture. You have to like some very suburban styles for any of their items to work for you. That said, if you like what they have, the prices are decent, and their warranty is as good as you can get. But, my reaction to their styles, and comfort is a general "yeech", with a rare "this is okay". And, I'm not that picky.

Macy's carries some decent furniture, that I find a bit overpriced. These look OK, and the price is somewhat a deal for "top grain" leather. I find it odd that there is not one store in Southern California or nearby in Nevada or Arizona to look at one. With all the reviews commenting on how firm it is, there better be a generous return policy. We're looking for a couple of sofas now, and these are in the zone.

That $100 shipping really kills this, dead. You can't do the store pickup to save, and do I really want a Macy's card to save the shipping?

I agree with you about Costco's furniture

Macy's furniture can be described as average in quality...and frankly a bit overpriced to be average

I think you are far better off checking furniture at a local retailer and snagging clearance and floor samples
I have done quite well buying at a local of higher end furniture stores with their clearance pieces and paying "macy's" prices for them

Its really a shame as some of the stores that Macy's absorbed...Marshall Fields..Hudsons..Lazarus etc had MUCH better furniture
