The accessibility upgrade offer expires on December 31, 2017. They're no restricted upgrade, as long as you've use assistive technology on Windows, you are eligible for the upgrade offer - Dsicombobulated

So there's this "assistive loophole" where you can upgrade to Windows 10 for free.

I doubt Microsoft will ever aggressively stop Windows 7 keys from being used for Windows 10 activations. They want that data mining goodness.

After it ends u can still get the Win 10 Education upgrade if u have an active .edu acct. Education is similar to Enterprise, so better than Pro/Home

I've touted this in the past.... as long as you use one of the "Accessibility tools" at least once after upgrading, you are legally good to go.

Otherwise, your upgrade path option will have to be a more shady one... upgrade to Windows 10 using an older version, which still works fine without a new key (using the old key) and then updating after the install completes. They could close this hole as well... since it depends on the activation servers could be set up to prevent this after December 31, as well (except that messes up people who already upgraded, but need to re-install).

Doing a clean install with the media creation tool USB or disc still works with systems sold with a Windows 8.x license (keys written to the motherboard UEFI.) It's not an "upgrade" path, exactly... but it'll get you activated. I assume this also still works for product keys on Windows 7 COAs.

I did this on a old Windows 7 PC. Only problem was that I lost my "free MS Word". The one that use to come free but with ads. Other than that item gone missing it's fine.
