These locking pliers enable hands-free operation when used as a clamp to hold two pieces of material together until they are permanently joined, or to hold materials for welding and similar applications

Same SKU & sale price...but different model & better reviews?

Hey don't knock the Harbor Freight stuff. I used some HF locking pilers to remove a stuck nut, and the teeth of the pliers deformed to prevent damage to the nut. What a great feature!

Yeah, these are fine. They are basically "Vise-Grip" clones (the older generation before Irwin added Yellow/Blue plastic trim to most of the Vise-Grips.)

Now that Irwin moved Vise-Grip production to China, I don't see any reason to pay a premium to buy their "name brand" anymore -- so, Go Husky, Go China, Yay! Sorry 'Mercun's, no Jobs 4 U. Companies gotta maximize profits! It's the 'Mercun way.
I agree.

And it's kinda comforting to know that at least if buying the Husky brand (AND yes, even though 98% of their hand tools are made in China) you can always swap it out at basically any Home Depot wordwide (w/little to no questions asked). I've had to use their lifetime warranty a couple of times - it's quick and easy.

Also, it's sad that (the ever so SLOWLY dying) Sears, which pioneered this awesome lifetime hand tool guarantee, offers up a 'Chinese equivalent' tool when/if you need them to make good on their lifetime hand tool guarantee. Frown

But... I guess a Chinese-made replacement is better than the probable alternative, which is: *nothing* aka: no more Sears (which, as we all know, is always seemingly 'just around the corner'). And that corner will likely be no later than sometime in 2019, from what I've heard/read.
