I agree, the reviews are pretty suspicious. I bought this anyway after looking at a few youtube videos. $20, if it flies and takes video it's good enough for me!

Find it hard to believe this could be much use outdoors. It's hard enough to control a mini-quad outside with wind, much less this. Also, not sure if you can hot swap the battery on this, doesn't seem like it. total flight time would be around 4 minutes.

The review didn't mention what the wind was like or if there was any wind at all, I have a feeling there was probably no wind.

If you want the Real Review by a guy who reviews tons of them, you could watch this. But, without battery swapping this would seem like a boring Quad- unless you like waiting an hour for your next 4 minute flight.

I wonder if I can open this thing up, connect the camera output to a 5.8 GHz video transmitter and fly FPV with it. Kind of like a tiny whoop. I wonder what the latency would be like.

I can probably remove the micro usb port, battery protection circuit and other small components to save weight and use my own Lipo batteries and Lipo charger to fly several batteries in a row.

Spots fake reviews on amazon. This has an A, meaning that the reviews on this drone are legit.

Given the weight issues already apparent in the review, adding any additional weight probably wouldn't be a good idea.

I agree, I see a lot of bogus reviews despite what fakespot says. People have figured out how to get around Fakespot's BS detection algorithm.

if all the reviews are fake, how does this qualify for "amazon's choice"?

So, this model aside, I would love if anyone has recommendations for a drone minus camera. My son receieved one at Christmas last year but the charging cord kept melting so we had to trash it.

You can get a syma x5c for less than $50, sales all the time. Has camera which is removable (recommended unless you plan to shoot video) and hot swapable batteries so you can fly it for 30, 40 minutes at a time. Cheap extra batteries and replacement parts for crash fixes.

The x5uc is supposed to be good as well but never used it.
