This looks like it has side vents, so you can use this to roast green coffee beans too.

I was looking at black Friday ads and looks like Kohls will have it for 9.99

I should add that I haven't compared the specs.

Thanks for the recommendation! I was actually looking at this for this sole purpose and compared it to Amazon reviews about roasting coffee with this machine.

Did it seem like it would do the job?

You are not supposed put butter inside, amazed that it would still work if you did.

I own it. It works for small batches. 36 grams of green coffee beans per roast. Enough for about 16 oz coffee once roasted.

This will roast 1/2 cup of beans (about 80 grams) per batch. I have done many 1/2 cup batches with great results.

As discussed in that other thread my fan on the Nostalgia must have an issue. I just measured out 1/2 cup of green beans from Sweet Marias and they sure do measure around 80 grams. The amount for roasting on that link says 3 oz. which would be 60 grams. Still 50% more than the amount I'm using.

I do 2.42oz, anything more and the beans won't spin

maybe there is a lot of variability between each machine

I use around 80 and they move slowly at first, but they do move. They speed up to about one revolution per second after about 10 seconds. That is typical per the instructions provided by Sweet Maria's. I use wooden chopsticks to stir them up a little every 20 seconds or so to prevent an uneven roast. I do that for about 2 minutes. By that time they are jumping around pretty good on their own. I do not use the plastic spout/lid thing because I do it on the back porch and because it is easier to stir and see what's going on.
