Saw a couple of these on Amazon for pretty much the same price (one was <$19), but decided not to get it from the reviews stating that it wasn't compatible with the NES Zapper and issues with RCA outputs.

But if it fits your needs it's a good price.

Wait you have a CRT but not an original nes to play with the zapper?

This system is for more recent tvs, which aren't compatible with the zapper anyways because the technology of LCD doesn't register with the zapper hardware or any light gun for that matter.

Correct-a-mundo. However, if yo have a crt and you want to use the NES Zapper, apparently your out of luck. And reviews didn't seem favorable for the RCA hookups either. Just trying to be helpful to anyone that would need that info.

You're incorrect. Works with zapper on crt. Look up some videos you will see it in action

Check the youtube comparisons. Of the cheap HD NES clones, this is probably the worst one

Fair enough. I'm just stating what the reviews from Amazon say. According to FAQ, manufacturer says it works with Zapper, but reviews were staying otherwise. Just food for thought.

I can't speak for this model however I have a Retron 5 that works well. That model and is pricier but supports a ton of systems (Famicom, NES, SNES, Genesis, GBA, and more).

For folks not familiar, the Retron's don't include games like the NES Mini, rather they read in the game from an original cartridge. If you have old games or a local game store that still sells them, they're a great option. The games are loaded onto the system and played into an emulator so there may be some differences from playing on an original NES, however their emulator is pretty good in my experience (and they do a good job of offering firmware updates). They provide typical emulator functions (saved states, game genie codes, etc.), and one especially cool feature is that the Retrons support original controllers which have better feel than even ones that come with the Minis (at least with the SNES Mini, which I also have, that controller is much lighter than an original SNES controller).

These are OK if you just want to play a couple games here and there. Using a real NES with an rca to hdmi converter is going to look a little better. If you wanna keep it super cheap, retropie isn't bad if you don't mind a lot of input lag. But if you're really interested in playing NES games on an HDTV with no lag, the best way without spending $250+ is the AVS:

It's not cheap either but it's the cheapest option I know of without emulation.

Actually wasn't even looking into this but figured that hdmi out enabled NES clone is probably worth 20 bucks. I'll keep my real deal NES attached to my crt television.

just got this about a month ago. I needed to test my diehard copy. The system works just fine. I wish I would have paid $20 instead of $30. Easily worth $20 and it looks good on the hdtv with the HDMI cable

I went out and found some old (but nice quality CRT's) on craigslist so I could have a co-op Time Crisis 3 set up. All these years and I never knew PS2 had a system link. Only played the game in split screen back when I was a kid. So my cousin and I busted out our copies of Time Crisis 3 and viola, a thing of beauty was born.

Also picked up an HD CRT. Thing was so heavy.
