8TB western digital is $160 routinely at best buy and has a red inside

granted it's not nas but if you can live with usb 3.0 (or internal sata) it's almost half the price

Nailed it!!!

Count on the drive to fail one day....any drive.
Either have your data backed up or be prepared to lose it.

Whatever you get, you probably should plan on at least x2 and run some backup system.

Most people buying these drives are filling high capacity servers with parity backup so failed drives are not a problem---FYI.

Great price. But since 12tb is out now. I would rather find a deal on 12tb.

Ditto nod
They had a really good deal (20% OFF) on the 10TB Red & Red Pro last week, but I couldn't pull the trigger knowing WD, HGST & Seagate have 12TB models.

Most people will run raid 5 on these, depending on how many drives you have 1 or even more can fail and you simply replace the drive via warranty and it will rebuild the data.
