Considering they are worth about 32 billion I think you may be safe

That link says the gc never expires, I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to get this and wait for those intense $69 fares

Ever since PPDG shut down for a brief period holding my gc's hostage I stopped purchasing from them unless I'm going to use the GC right away. Two of my $100 Best Buy GC's were depleted and I was lucky a rep at PPDG credited me. Others weren't so lucky and now they have a new policy.

Can this be combined with "points" for a flight?

I don't think you can use both points and gift cards.

No, sadly you book 100% cash or 100% points. But remember, there is no penalty for booking 2x one way flights. In fact it makes things easier to shuffle around later on.

Also, keep in mind you can only use 4 methods of payment. That means if you have 2 flight credits and 2 gift cards they MUST cover the flight completely. The 4th payment method must cover the balance of the flight. Another reason why booking only one way flights is helpful. If you change your flight twice to a lower priced flight (even rebooking the same flight at a lower cost) you will get 2 separate credits. Do this for both sides of your flight and you'll end up with 4 credits. And often times these credits are for $5-20. Not sure where I'm going, just sharing my 2 cents.

EDIT: You can use points and cash by purchasing more points. Here is the link [southwest.com], currently they are offering me a 40% bonus on purchase of 5,000 points and more. No clue if that's targeted, nor do I know if that's a good deal.
