Lowe's has a 20V DEWALT Brushless Drill w/ 2 Li-ion Batteries, Charger and Kit Bag for $99 and free local pickup. Being that it's brushless, it's a pretty good deal. Features include:
  • DEWALT brushless motor delivers more run time over brushed
  • Compact (7.52-in front to back), lightweight design fits into tight areas
  • Ergonomic comfort grip handle provides ideal balance and tool control
  • LED light with 20-second trigger release delay provides increased visibility in dark or confined spaces
  • Includes DCD777 compact brushless drill/driver, (2) Li-ion batteries, charger, and kit bag

Basically a Black + Decker caliber brushless Drill, if they had brushless in their lineup - Don't get this, get the XR model or get the Porter Cable brushless version if you're on a lower budget.

This is correct
This comes with the DCD777 drill which is brushless but not the same as the DCD791 which is the "XR" line currently $199 at Lowes. I have the XR and it is a beast.

I can't comment on quality of this one but right away the differences I notice are it has the plastic chuck which I hate and never grabs round bits very well. It also most likely has plastic internal gears.
Power output is 340 vs 460 UWO.
Biggest turn off for me is the LED is mounted under the chuck so you get a terrible shadow on your work surface. The XR it is mounted near the battery and angled up which is so much better. It also has 3 brightness settings and will stay on for 20 minutes.
Overall my point is don't be fooled by the "brushless" label because Dewalt has two and they are very different.

Agreed the XR is a better product but it's also twice the price. I've been using the standard version of this drill (brush motor) for about 3-4 years. I haven't had any issues with the plastic chuck or internals giving me any trouble. For the standard weekend warrior, this should be sufficient but not for the daily use contractor.

I was looking to buy replacement batteries for mine and came across this. These batteries may take a while to charge but I was able to get this set for the same price as (2) replacement batteries. I figured it would be a good buy for someone like myself who only does a few projects a month.

Can anyone suggest a good drill bit set to go along with this. Looking to just do normal projects like hang shelves, pictures, assemble furniture etc.

This is basically replacing the non-brushless DCD771 kit that used to be $99 regularly. I expect similar quality just slightly more runtime with the 1aH batteries.

Good input! Of course Dewalt offers a drill with more power and more features and more price! If it is Yellow its professional grade no matter what the price! Dewalt has always used this philosophy. Plastic gears? I really doubt it! Dewalt along with Milwaukee and other Name brands save money by offering small ah batteries ie tun time, not necessarily cheaper internals. Not everybody needs or can afford to shell out $200 for the best of the best and this is a great drill for the majority of users. I personally would hold off if possible as this will be $99 throughout the holiday season because Home Depot has it on Display with the new "Hot Buy" Signage. By holding off purchase till maybe Black Friday a person can hopefully obtain a brushless drill and impact driver for a a little more.
