Couldn't you just put laundry detergent in the machine and run it with nothing in it?? Meh, still bought it anyway because I am a gullible @ss. Wink

I used it once – it's OK - very helpful for front loader. You're not supposed to put clothes in when you use it. The home cleaning method involves using vinegar or something... I think most of the thumbs down our because it's expensive. This is a good price!

Got some black stuff coming off on my clothes recently when taking the load out of the wash. Will give this a try and see if that resolves it. Otherwise I will look into the Vinegar recommendation. Thanks either way.

Does it work better than vinegar and baking soda or plain bleach? My machine has some mildew smell in it and makes my clothes smell funky...

Yes. My washer sat in a storage unit for 6 weeks while we moved half way across the country and it developed quite a mildew stink.

Tried vinegar, bleach, baking soda, even took it apart to some degree and cleaned the pump and stuff.

Took all 3 packets but might as well have been new, I had thought the washer was a goner. It's been a year and I use one monthly as I'm in a humid climate, hasn't returned.

Also I paid 8.99 at Kroger for this, so this is a steal.

To prevent a washer machine developing mildew smell, keep the lid open.
