Isn't this one of the US made AK variants that AKOU doesn't recommend?

7.62x39, recoil is 3x higher than .223?

How did you surmise that? The muzzle energy is fairly similar between the two, so recoil should be similar if everything else is equal. Of course everything else is rarely equal. Felt recoil is a function of the guns mass, the amount of reciprocating mass, spring strength, and other factors.

I have an AR in 7.62x39 and it did kick harder than .223 ARs, I'd say felt recoil was about 50% more. But then I put a Limb Saver on the adjustable stock and it softened it up to where it's not much more of a hit than .223. With my AKs, the full size one still kicked more than an AR in .223 even though it weighs more. The 7.62x39 is just a harder hitting round, on both ends.

Recoil in an AR is highly variable. An overgassed AR with a carbine length gas system can kick quite hard, and one with a rifle length gas system with an adjustable gas block and some other tweaks can be a very soft shooter.

For what? The zombie apocalypse? An indoor shooting range? An outdoor shooting range?

Most 7.62x39mm is steel cased and has magnetic bi-metal bullets. A very small percentage is steel cased with full copper jacket (non-magnetic) bullets. There is also brass case ammo with full copper jacket (non-magnetic) bullets.

Most indoor ranges don't like magnetic projectiles. Some outdoor ranges don't like them either. Additionally, some ranges only allow brass ammo because they collect and sell it.

So, depending on what you're after the recommendations change.

thank u very much for typing. For indoor range shooting.
Some sources saying steel cased ammo is not reliable and will damage the rifle.
Is that right?
