Walmart - Arris surfboard SBG6580 modem as low as $9 norm $108 *YMMV B&M - in store only*

Many walmart stores have this Arris surfboard cable modem on clearance for as low as $9. The retail price is $108! YMMV. This is a great deal for a cable modem that includes a 4-port gigabit ethernet switch and wifi. I was able to pickup several for $21.

It's widely available so I dont think many resellers know about this yet. If you want it better get it quick before the resellers sweep all the local walmarts and buy all the stock.

You dont need to use brickseek. I checked the price at 3,702 walmart stores and put the prices at the below google spreadsheet. You can sort by city, state, zip.

No in store pickup option. I have learned not to chase clearance deals if you can't order for in store through Walmart.com
Same strategy here

Specs indicate max speed support for 100 MBPS. Can someone comments whats the max speed for bandwidth it can support?
This is true. Check product info on amazon. 8x4 channel bonding. Not worth it for me. 8x4 is so old school now.

I have this modem/router.. I had Comcast but moved to an area with no Comcast. What do I do with it? Recycle?
Actually checkout Best Buy networking product recycling program. Might get 15% discount coupon. I did that with an old router and used it on getting netgear orbi.

As a product it's worth the price you pay for it, (not retail) I have one, and the wifi part of it has been less than desirable. Ended up buying an external Wifi Router to get a better signal and speed for more devices.

I didnt see the specs of this listed in this thread so here they are below. Also this is only rated at 100 Mbps for Spectrum users so if you have a faster plan this will bottleneck your connection (Due to the 8 download streams)
  • X Faster than DOCSIS 2.0
  • Download speeds up to 343 Mbps
  • DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem
  • 8 download and 4 upload channels
  • Supports IPv4 and IPv6 – the latest Internet standard
  • Compatible with major U.S. Cable Providers
  • 802.11n Wi-Fi
  • Switchable 2.4/5.0 GHz Dual-band
  • Wi-Fi speeds up to 300 Mbps per band
  • 2×2 omni-directional antenna
  • 4-Port Gigabit Ethernet Router

Briggs above is right. This will only and forever give you 100mbps max. Spectrum and other cable companies have faster plans than this (300 on spectrum), and in the near future even faster. This has 8 downstream and 4 upstream channels. There are markets now that already have 24 downstreams. Just keep that in mind.

However if all you need is a modem that handles 100mbps for now it's fine. I'd get a separate router though.

Get brickseek premium membership or get a free trail
Do you know if brickseek premium has an option to seek all deals or ymmvs for a single store? That would be great. My time wouldn't be wasted if I didn't find one deal but did find another while I was there. I can't imagine how they wouldn't be able to do that. It would be a killer feature and I would sign up just for that. Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

I have this modem for over 3 years. Still works. But it is capped to 100mbps.. I called Comcast and asked why my speed never goes over 70.. and all they could tell me to do is restart my modem.. turns out it is my modem. We lowered our plan and save a few bucks. Also no Comcast rental fee. Paid $90 for ours.

Walmart's clearance is so messed up. Here they take $100 item and reduce it to $9 but then you go to the clearance aisle and they have a $14 sunshade for your car for $10 and returned underwear for $1 lower than normal. Anyway, I saw 3 in stock at the store but was still regular price. No one around for miles to ask them to scan it so I just beat feet.
