Really like this. My two cents is if you plan on making lots of pocket holes get the K5. Clamping motion in front of the work piece makes it so much easier. Good no matter which you choose though.

At a quick glance - the master system has a micro adjust and the dust collection port. Didn't look long enough to spot other differences though

This whole Kreg jig system is a waste of money. The joints are not strong. May be ok for small picture frames, but thats about it. Dont use this for benches/tables. The joints wont hold.

Regret spending so much money on these gizmos.

Maybe you shouldn't base so much on one video Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Besides, lateral strength isn't the only criteria when choosing type of joints, there's no beating pocket hole for fast and disassemble-able set-up.

Nice video but I don't agree with this.. depending on the need for the joint type plus you use tightbond to go with it?

You're missing the point if you're trying to use it for benches/tables.

Driving a screws from the side is usually faster...
Pocket holes may be the fastest fool-proof method of concealed joinery - but they still have their limits.

Took me a second but I found the deal in the season section of Home Depot. The smaller kreg jigs also have a package deals as well and are located in the correct aisle.

I picked one up yesterday with a SKU that matched the online ad and the screw kit consisted of a bunch of tiny bags with 5-10 screws in each. It was nowhere near the $20 screw kit pictured. I'm going back today to see if they'll be willing to give me the kit pictured.

To the haters...

When I started woodworking (out of necessity after spending way too much money on a house), I made several coffee tables, a few side tables, a dinner table, and two TV stands using nothing but Kreg pocket holes. Absolutely no glue, even the tops were done with rows of pocket holes. All are ridiculously sturdy. Once, I slipped and slammed all 170 pounds of my body weight against a side table while in the midst of a spontaneous Nerf war with my girlfriend. That was made of the cheapest Doug Fir I could find. One of the legs cracked mid-board, but the joints didn't give. If people can make do with Ikea anything, pocket holes in cheap softwood is more than sturdy enough for a beginning woodworker. Edit: I should add that the table was constructed entirely of 1 x 4s, which makes the durability even more impressive.

I still make a table or two every few months, as favors for friends/colleagues. I've "upgraded" my process to use more advanced joinery for stylistic purposes (i.e., when pocket holes can't be hidden), but the majority of my joints remain Kreg joints for the supreme convenience. I've had nothing but praise for my pieces. Are there sturdier joints? Yes. Does it matter in practice? No.

My vote is for pocket holes all the way. Try it before you knock it.

Just as a follow up there is indeed a bonus pack in the seasonal / promotional section and it oddly has the same SKU as the pack without the box of screws in it. I went back and returned the K4 today because the first time I placed the block inside the clamp it got immediately stuck and for the life of me I couldn't get it to release. Nobody at HD customer service could figure it out either, they assumed it was a mold defect and just refunded me the total cost. The display to look for is below -
