That's not true. The camera app has improved, but picture quality is far from today's flagship level.

It was substantially worse than my Nexus 5x even after all the updates. The camera sensor just isn't all that great and it lacks OIS which hurts it further.

It's improving, but nowhere near flagship quality. The phone itself is amazing, and essential has been great with fixes and improvements.
