Depends on what you're looking for but these are Epiphone standard plus les pauls which have excellent bang for the buck. Typically any "standard" model will represent that guitar manufacturers best quality control. An equivalent Gibson standard model will be 10x the price. Of course a Gibson will have better electronics, pickups, materials, and sound which is subjective. But these would be great guitars for beginners and intermediate players.

What I would like to do with one of these is completely gut it out and replace with high quality pots, switches, pickups, etc. You could be all in for about $600 and have a guitar with more versatility and great sound for a fraction of the price of a Gibson.

Not a bad idea but I don't know much about working on guitars. I wish they had a sale on the Tribute Plus. Those '57 pickups are killer and I prefer the '60s neck.
