IMO -we're about 1 year away from getting 50"+ 4K TV's in the the $500 range across the board all year long long not just BF from the top manufacturers (Sammy, LG, Panny).

That said, no wide spread content from the networks & cables have hurt adoption rate.

a 50" 4K Tv from a major brand is going to be their entry level TV

Many times that buyer is the one that buys the Hisesne, TCL..etc brand because their picture quality could actually be better for the same cost

The major brands have a wide range of performance...check out the Sony and Samsung LCD TV's from their bottom to the top of the line
Huge performance differences

@Craw74 - from the untrained eye you are price shopping not value shopping. You will not get these specs from this price point. If you don't care about value per your hard earned dollar, than you are going to be disappointed elsewhere. Good luck!

The Hisense would be nice if the TCL wasn't around. That TCL tv is the best value tv of the year. I hope it gets a ~$100 sale this Black Friday, because I'll be buying it if it does.

That's odd.... isn't the H8 series (lower tier) full array?

I inquired on that. They wanted to push a thinner panel via customer feedback. That was only possible going edge lit. It is edge lit all 4 sides which most 4k panels that are edge lit are only 2 sides.
