Comes out to $159.13 after tax and shipping in CA. Still a decent deal for the 8 zone.

If you're looking for smart sprinkler controllers check with your water company for potential rebates. In my town they offer a 50% discount, but only if you buy from authorized retailers and you have to do the paperwork before purchase.

How are you able to find out if your area is eligible is there a website for each location?

Check your local energy utility's website.

Was going to walk in to Lowe's and PM this. Noticed the condition was "New - Non-Retail Packaging" and figured it wasn't worth the hassle. Bought the RainMachine mini-8 at Lowes and used a $20 off $100 coupon. Total out the door was $131.22 and got what many people have said is a slightly better controller. The independence from cloud feature was the difference maker to me (one of the bigger concerns interested parties usually have).

$80 local SoCal rebate is already filled out and submitted. Net cost $51.22. Should pay for itself in no time.

Have 1st gen rachio and its pretty good .. It's the most most helpful when you're trying to adjust the sprinkler heads .. turn it on your phone while you'd adjust the heads ..

Is 2nd gen worth an update?

"New - Non-Retail Packaging" denotes the units are brand new condition but are packaged in a plain brown box instead of a full color printed box

No, your Gen 1 has the same software and firmware. Gen 2 was suppose to allow easier setup and had the addition of a button that allows you to turn on the system from the unit. I personally see little to no use for that.
