So many cryptocurrency hot takes, so little info about what this specific thing can be used for and if it's a good deal or not.

+rep to everyone who stayed on topic.

Honestly, long term, I think BTC is the only one that has a chance.
And that is why.

People know what Bitcoin is.Well, MORE people know what Bitcoin is. Though it wasn't the first cryptocurrency, it has snowballed to be the recognizable version. No different than any brand of anything. If you were to ask the entire world what Bitcoin was, I think you might get 3% who recognize the word as currency. Ethereum? 0.00001% at best. That difference in monstrous.

Bitcoin has a cap on the total number that can exist. 21 Million. It also doesn't sound like you understand that it gets harder and harder to farm, the more demand goes up. It's currently so hard, many many farmers feel it's almost not worth it. They really have to weigh the electricity costs, equipment costs, cooling costs, upkeep/time carefully to stand a chance at turning a profit.

I just ran the calculations. We'll assume you have a somewhat decent miner that does 10Th/s (cost for something like this is over $1000). At the current Bitcoin mining difficulty and the monstrous current Bitcoin price, you'd make ~$180 month GROSS running 24/7. Now subtract the large chunk of electricity that cost you and any cooling you had to add so your house isn't a sauna (and any inconvenience of noise). You're ballparking A YEAR before you break even on your hardware costs ASSUMING difficulty doesn't go up or price of Bitcoin doesn't drop. You're also assuming you won't have any hardware issues in a year of running 24/7. That's a lot of assumptions for a return that I can nearly make on other guaranteed financial investments over the same period of time.

Do they really think bitcoin is going to be the new currency when people can literally "farm" it?
Not BTC for the average user, but other coins, yes

Bitcoin is user driven. If we don't useit or mine it, it doesn't get famous.

Interesting... so, now they're giving these risers away. Wondering if that means that cryptos are about to tank.
