Dang, $10 cheaper than the deal the other day, and it's trayless.

Edit: Was successfully able to cancel my other order through chat support and bought this one, thanks again OP!

Nice find! Was this the other one you were looking at when we were discussing models that reduce fan noise?

The specific one I looked at was this one [newegg.com] as it has an 80mm fan with the connector visible from the rear picture. The unit in this thread also has a complaint of loud fans, and might actually be more difficult to replace because it indicates that instead of an 80mm fan which is common, it uses a 70mm fan which is far harder to find (Typically 80mm fan are general use throughout a case, but 70mm fans are typically used on CPU coolers more than anything else. Finding quiet ones at a low cost might therefore be more difficult.)

Regardless, once it arrives I'll verify the fan size and connector type and hopefully be able to find a suitable replacement for a few dollars.

Newbie question: can I use this just to get hot swap capability for multiple drives without setting up a RAID config? Thanks.

Sure, that'd work fine. Different drive letter for each drive if you're using Windows. Let me know if you can get the promo to work for this. (use some software to duplicate drives)

It says SAS/SATA so does that mean it has its own SAS controller card on board or do I still have to have one in my pc to run the SAS drives that are in this? If it had a controller card in it that would be awesome to be able to use cheap 3-4tb retired server drives in my pc.
