How does this compare with a desktop docking station like this one?

https://slickdeals.net/f/10746507-syba-usb-3-0-uasp-dual-bay-hard-drive-docking-station-duplicator-sy-enc50071-13ac

This one seem very convenient if it doesn't require external power... but I wonder about performance and actual functionality...

I'm looking for something that would allow me to plug in various SSD/3.5" HD to copy files in Windows10. Currently, I leave my case open and plug in the drives to open power and SATA cables when needed. But I need to do this while the PC is off, and need to reboot various times to get the computer to recognize the drives... Which is a hassle.

I have a hdd station like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Ex...dd+docking

I also have the type that you have linked to. They essentially do the same thing, except the one you linked you can have 2 hdd hooked in at once. You can do a hot swap with either one (remove/add hdd without powering off pc)
the one that op is posting about has been around for a while and I have never used but they run $10 or less usually on ebay.

This style is somewhat nicer for a tech to throw in their bag, smaller and lighter than a dock. Annoying the number of parts to get lost in the bag though.

FYI - SATA drives are hot-swappable so no need to turn off the computer unlike the days of IDE. It'll pop into your My Computer just like adding a thumb drive.

I want to make sure everyone checking this out or comparing understands that this is an ATA/IDE adapter. For legacy drives you need to get data from.

this product has been on sale for $13.xx or cheaper in the past.
I would wait if you don't need it right now.
